Well check this out. This 1971 ford f250 camper special spent its life in tuscon, az where years of baking in the sun have created one of the most impressive examples of this phenomenon. Let's start with the exterior. This is no airbrushed imitation; it's the real thing! With this unique exterior, the entire truck was debadged and scuffed, followed by a coat of satin clear to preserve the look. The bed, rear bumper, and hubcaps were also cleared. For some trucks, "patina" means rust holes and rot. The sheetmetal on this truck is all original and totally solid throughout. I've seen 3-year-old trucks with more issues than this 46-year-old. Even the bed looks great. This continues to the frame, suspension, and steering components as well. The driveline consists of the original 360 cubic inch v8 mated to a c6 automatic transmission. Out back is a robust dana 60 full floating rear end. The power brakes have huge discs in front with the factory 2-pison dayton calipers, along with the large drums in back. The front suspension uses the classic ford twin i-beam design while the rear has heavy duty springs. Also note the dual factory fuel tanks (19. 5 gallon in-cab, 25 gallon side-mount). The interior is mostly original though the bench seat has been recovered. After all, 46-year-old patina is nice to look at but not to sit on. The am radio sounds pretty decent too. This truck also has seen a lot of recent maintenance. An engine tune-up, carburetor rebuild, new i-beam bushings, radius arm bushings, kingpins, tie rods, rear brakes, exhaust, windshield, door seals, and more. Note some of this work was performed after the pictures were taken. Everything is ready for the road! The original ford extended mirrors. The nifty rust-free tool box. The original hub caps. Old trucks abound in this market, but it is extremely hard to find an original example like this, completely solid and with a patina only nature can provide. .
